This app design project was used to demonstrate a more engaging visual user journey from a learner drivers licence holder to a full licence holder. This is a conceptual work (not for production for Service NSW, who are the essential service providers for NSW government. I developed this project at TAFE NSW in with collaboration two other trainee designers as a group.
At the start of the project work we wanted to establish the current state of how a user gets from a learner to a full licence. We reached out to the SNSW analytics team, who provided us with website data that we could use to identify successes and pain points. We then completed a competitive analysis with similar service provers, such as Gov.uk and the Victorian government public transport agency. We used a variety of design thinking techniques to accurately identify said pain points, such as brainstorming as a group.
We wanted to understand what is customer expectation and what we have to offer before getting to start with their driving licence journey. We have then breakdown the process into smaller pieces.
Research
At this stage we were curious to understand how previous work has been put in place and how customer are getting benefit from it. We had some assumption to get some research on what are the key pain points for customer on their driving license process.
At final design solution we developed more then 20 low resolution screens for the app to demonstrate. From onboarding process to driving license graduation there are multiple phase customer has to progress through. Our aim was to make a visual process where customer feel the journey path is clear and smooth.
We came up with a aesthetically pleasing and easy to use mobile app prototype. Feedback we received from lecturer and peers was overwhelmingly positive. Our final submission received the highest  grade in the cohort.
